2020.11.23 16:25 LeeNobody A compelling, concise and competitive 15 team ACC schedule with supporting data

The ACC current divisional alignment are poorly constructed. Schools less than 30 minute drive apart are in separate divisions. Division are geographically vast. Florida State is in the same division as Louisville and Boston College. Numerous teams have 4 our more preferred annual games. Competitive balance has never been close to even in the ACC. Forced divisional rivalries have been uncompelling, and lackluster to fan bases. I have devised a superior schedule that addresses all these concerns.
The Current ACC
With the Coastal and Atlantic divisions, each ACC team play 6 divisional opponents +1 permanent rival +1 rotating rival for a total of 8 conference games. With only one rotating team it will take a team 6 years to play every team, and 12 years to play at every stadium. This is simply not enough rotation, but adding a 9th conference game would hurt the 4 ACC teams with permanent ACC-SEC rivalries, reducing those teams' ability to schedule non-conference games.
A Better ACC Schedule
The answer is to group conference teams into geographically concise unit called pods. The ACC can be divided into 3 pods of 5 teams. The pods are based in concise geography would look like this with composition below:
Southern Pod Coastal Pod Northern Pod
Georgia Tech Duke Louisville
Clemson North Carolina Notre Dame
Florida State NC State Syracuse
Virginia Tech Virginia Boston College
Miami Wake Forest Pittsburgh
Yearly each team would play every member of it pod (4 opponents in its column), 2 cross pod rivals (team in its rows) and two rotating teams from the rest of the conference for an 8 conference game schedule. With this rotation it will take 4 years for every team to play each other at least ones, and eight years to visit every stadium at least once. The breakdown of annual opponents is as follows
Team Annual Pod Opponent Annual Pod Opponent Annual Pod Opponent Annual Pod Opponent Annual Cross Pod Opponent Annual Cross Pod Opponent
Georgia Tech Clemson Florida State Virginia Tech Miami Duke Louisville
Clemson Georgia Tech Florida State Virginia Tech Miami North Carolina Notre Dame
Florida State Georgia Tech Clemson Virginia Tech Miami NC State Syracuse
Virginia Tech Georgia Tech Clemson Florida State Miami Virginia Boston College
Miami Georgia Tech Clemson Florida State Virginia Tech Wake Forest Pittsburgh
Duke North Carolina NC State Virginia Wake Forest Georgia Tech Louisville
North Carolina Duke NC State Virginia Wake Forest Clemson Notre Dame
NC State North Carolina Duke Virginia Wake Forest Florida State Syracuse
Virginia North Carolina Duke NC State Wake Forest Virginia Tech Boston College
Wake Forest North Carolina Duke NC State Virginia Miami Pittsburgh
Louisville Notre Dame Syracuse Boston College Pittsburgh Georgia Tech Duke
Notre Dame Louisville Syracuse Boston College Pittsburgh Clemson North Carolina
Syracuse Louisville Notre Dame Boston College Pittsburgh Florida State NC State
Boston College Louisville Notre Dame Syracuse Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Virginia
Pittsburgh Louisville Notre Dame Syracuse Boston College Miami Wake Forest
Note that annually games cover every trophy or named ACC rivalry except BC vs. Clemson, the most forced of rivalry games. These are games that each fanbase would get excited about, and have been sorely neglected. The breakdown of rotating opponents is as follows:
Team Y1 Opponent Y1 Opponent Y2 Opponent Y2 Opponent Y3 Opponent Y3 Opponent Y4 Opponent Y4 Opponent
Georgia Tech North Carolina Notre Dame NC State Syracuse Virginia Boston College Wake Forest Pittsburgh
Clemson NC State Syracuse Virginia Boston College Wake Forest Pittsburgh Duke Louisville
Florida State Virginia Boston College Wake Forest Pittsburgh Duke Louisville North Carolina Notre Dame
Virginia Tech Wake Forest Pittsburgh Duke Louisville North Carolina Notre Dame NC State Syracuse
Miami Duke Louisville North Carolina Notre Dame NC State Syracuse Virginia Boston College
Duke Miami Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Boston College Florida State Syracuse Clemson Notre Dame
North Carolina Georgia Tech Louisville Miami Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Boston College Florida State Syracuse
NC State Clemson Notre Dame Georgia Tech Louisville Miami Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Boston College
Virginia Florida State Syracuse Clemson Notre Dame Georgia Tech Louisville Miami Pittsburgh
Wake Forest Virginia Tech Boston College Florida State Syracuse Clemson Notre Dame Georgia Tech Louisville
Louisville Miami North Carolina Virginia Tech NC State Florida State Virginia Clemson Wake Forest
Notre Dame Georgia Tech NC State Miami Virginia Virginia Tech Wake Forest Florida State Duke
Syracuse Clemson Virginia Georgia Tech Wake Forest Miami Duke Virginia Tech North Carolina
Boston College Florida State Wake Forest Clemson Duke Georgia Tech North Carolina Miami NC State
Pittsburgh Virginia Tech Duke Florida State North Carolina Clemson NC State Georgia Tech Virginia
The rotating opponents are scheduled to allow for every team to see each other in four year and help create greater competitve balence. Notice Clemson's rotating opponents are historically weaker teams, as Clemson has strong pod and cross pod annual games. On the opposite side Wake Forests's rotating opponents offset the lake of strength in Wake Forest's pod .
Competitive Balance
With rotation listed above, I gathered the SP+ average for each team since 2014-15 season, the first ACC year for all conference members. I compiled the average opponent SP+ for each team in each year of the schedule. The data is compiled here. Georgia Tech Year 1 has the hardest schedule with an average conference opponent SP+ rating of 9.97. NC State YR 4 has the easiest schedule with an average conference opponent SP+ rating of 2.76. Over the 4 year schedules, teams average opponents SP+ ratings range from 8.22 (Georgia Tech) to 4.03 (NC State). I believe this schedule is far superior as the differences is strength of opponents scale with historic quality of the teams. I.E Blue bloods get schedules that are a little harder, cellar dwellers get schedules are a little easier. I think the schedules are balanced well, and better than alternatives.
How will you Deal with Conference Championship Game?
Until Conference Championship Games (CCG) are deregulated, the NCAA requires either divisions or Round Robin. In 2020, this requirement was waived. I hope that this will continue and as a result the best two records could meet in the CCG. If not ditch the CCG let the ACC crown a champ. We could even have a last week matchmaker game where all teams match up 1 vs 2, 4 vs 3, .. till 13 vs 14 with 15 sitting out, similar to what the B1G and Pac12 are attempting this year.
TL;DR: In first table each team would play every member of it pod (4 opponents in its column), 2 cross pod rivals (team in its rows) and two rotating teams from the rest of the conference for an 8 conference game schedule. With this rotation it will take 4 years for every team to play each other at least ones, and eight years to visit every stadium at least once. Third table shows cross pod yearly rotations.

2020.11.20 21:49 Kn1989 The map voting system needs work

Unpopular opinion, I love the miami map.
Everytime that map comes up to vote everyone always votes the other map and it rarely comes up in rotation for me
I think a system should be implemented for playing the map you want after a game, even keep the 2 choices and whatever you pick you will matchmake with others who want to play it as well, 8 maps just isn't enough at launch, for me personally I'm starting to get a little bored of them

2020.11.17 17:43 JMP2926 All joking aside, this game is a broken, bug-filled mess

Allow me to list everything I've seen or experienced in just a few days with this game (PS4 Pro):
Yes, some of these issues are minor, but at a $70 price point, minor issues start adding up. I do believe the game has potential, though, but it's honestly a little ridiculous that each CoD release has more and more bugs we have to deal with on Day 1, and now even basic shit like leveling is bugged (which is the backbone of multiplayer).

2020.11.16 16:22 QuickiexD77 Personal opinion about Cold War

So of course nobody asked for it, but if anyone (highly unlikely) is reading this and is on the fence about buying it, consider some of these. I am also on PC, so keep that in mind.
Spoilers, obviously.
My initial reaction when playing my first few games was "Wow, they really did optimize this a lot better than what I thought considering how horrible the beta felt." The game really does feel smooth IMO and honestly that's something I didn't expect right out of the gate with this game considering it feels rushed. They improved a lot from the beta and they delivered especially with zombies and the campaign. However, multiplayer, at this current state, is god awful. One thing I really do like about this game though is the cross progression between consoles as well as progression with zombies and multiplayer. Especially with how hard it is to level up your guns to be able to unlock all camos and attachments its really cool that they did that. They also made some of the best camos they ever made in this game.
Multiplayer:
I'm not kidding when I say I am pretty sure this is the most unbalanced a Call of Duty game has been at launch. Modern Warfare had issues and of course still does, but I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as Cold War is right now.
Overall, I think MP is a shit show and is at best a 5/10. Horribly balanced guns, awful map rotation, and SBMM is absolutely atrocious.
Campaign:
The Campaign for Cold War is honestly really good. I thoroughly enjoyed it all the way through and even got the "evil" ending which is honestly fucked up but I also thought was really cool and creative to kind of be the bad guy and win for the other team. Shooting Woods, Mason, and Adler in the head watching a slow-mo bullet pierce their skull was honestly kinda funny and really fun to do.
Personally I think they did really well with the campaign and its honestly a 9/10. Super well-done and will definitely replay it to get the different endings in the future.
Zombies:
They absolutely NAILED this one on the head. I honestly feel like they did such a great job creating a new story and creating new mechanics and ways to enjoy your experience like never before.
With that being my own personal gripe with zombies, I definitely think zombies is another 9/10. I enjoy playing zombies the most in this game and will probably have more time in it than MP. I also think the mastery camos look better.
Final Thoughts:
All in all, this game isn't perfect nor is it a complete failure. I will say I don't think this is a $60 game. It does feel rushed and I definitely think they should have delayed the launch of this game. And one of the worst things they could've done is give Playstation players the OP bonuses just for being a PS player. Extra attachments, more 2xp AND weapon xp, and the extra zombies gamemode on top of the tier skips if they get the battle pass. They definitely went overboard with the exclusives this time around, it would've been fine if it was just the gamemode.
I have high hopes this game will improve in the future and will definitely give it more of a chance for multiplayer once they start adding in DLC and what-not. But as the game is now, I think it's a solid 7/10.

Thanks for reading my thoughts and opinions, I hope to read some of your guys thoughts as well.

2020.10.31 01:40 _BurningWater_ way to chose maps in matchmaking?

I kind of wanna level up my podium but I'm getting rotten luck in matchmaking and haven't gotten Miami dome or sun drive in 50 games any way I can choose? (P.s. i know you can ban ONE map btw which should really allow you to add more)

2020.10.21 18:44 rancidpandemic I didn't think I'd miss the Beta, but here we are...

The beta was hit or miss for me. I hated the gun models (still do) and the poor visibility. The entire game had a weird, fuzzy/blurry look to it. Guns looked like a clay model behind a slightly opaque glass (just so we are clear, I ran the game with all settings between High and Ultra, 1440p, 144hz.). Maybe I am just used to the hyper-realistic models in MW, but it was an immediate turn-off for me. The sights and scopes on every gun were very unclear. I understand wanting to make the sights fit the era of the game, but damn they could have cleaned them up a bit. Instead, everything was just always hazy, like you couldn't fully focus your eyes on it.
The attachments are repetitive and boring. Every gun has the exact same or similar attachments that offer the same benefits on all guns. Even attachments that are technically different still have the same stat modifications. For instance, each gun has the exact same Ammo attachments: A speed mag, a 40-round mag, a 40-round speed mag, and an attached mag for increased starting ammo/speed reloading. The only exceptions to this were the M16 and the 3-round burst SMG. That was so boring for me and made every gun feel the same.
Fighting through those issues, I did manage to have fun with the multiplayer. The actual gameplay managed to be quite enjoyable despite the issues I had with the guns themselves.
The maps were a huge breath of fresh air compared to nearly all of the MW maps. Miami is pretty damn great. It's so awesome to see an actual colorful nighttime map. After a year of the brown wasteland that is MW maps, CW made me feel like Dorothy stepping into the land of Oz for the first time. The snow map (Crossroads, maybe? IDK, i forgot already) was also really great. I am not usually a fan of the larger scale warfare, but Combined Arms on that map really was enjoyable. Satellite, while a similar brown wasteland as MW maps, felt unique and interesting. IW seems to hate open sight lines, but Treyarch has done them splendidly with Satellite. Kudos to Treyarch for some actual decent map design for once.
While the guns are a problem, the other parts of Loadout design are pretty well done, IMO. I do enjoy the Wildcard system. While I think there may be some options that are a lot more powerful than the others (Lawbreaker, I think? Basically Overkill + unrestricted perk selection) I think the system is interesting enough to really allow some great build options. Hopefully we see another one or two wildcards in the final game. That being said, Proximity Mine should not be a field upgrade. Make it a Lethal Equipment. Also, SAM turret should be a Scorestreak. Being able to take down air support with an AI controlled Field Upgrade really seems a bit too powerful. And I used that exclusively once I unlocked it.
Now about the actual gameplay. I'm not sure exactly what made me like it, but I did. Perhaps I'm just realizing how bad MW's SBMM makes the gameplay. After the CW Beta, I find it hard going back to MW's MP. It's just frustrating, not fun. Maybe I'm finally realizing how bad SBMM makes the game feel. Every match in MW feels like a struggle, but every game in the CW Beta was pretty chill. There were some frustrating moments, sure, but it was overall way more enjoyable and relaxing than MW currently is. I was able to just queue up for a game, relax, and enjoy myself instead of feeling like I had to struggle just to come up even.
With all that being said, I still have mixed feelings for the game. There are things I hate, but also things I really like and want to see more of. I am also worried that the reason I enjoyed the game was possibly due to less restrictive or non-existent SBMM. Basically, I hope they don't change the matchmaking when the game releases and put me in the same sweaty lobbies I'm placed in in MW. If the game does release and the matchmaking is a little less restrictive, I think I should be able to have a lot of fun with the game, despite disliking the guns.
Anyways, those are my thoughts. If I had to rate my experience, I would say it's overall a 6.5-7.0 out of 10.

2020.10.20 17:35 ORE- Thoughts on the game and HOW it can improve till launch

First of all, I started playing this game on the PS4 which is a completely different game from the PC version which I'm buying. Having said that the only thing I want to mention for the console players is that they have to nerf the aim assist on console it's too strong this year I dunno why maybe because they want to make it fairer to play against pc players, I dunno, they need to turn that down.
And with that out of the way, I'm going to tell you what I think they need to fix to make it better for launch. In my opinion, sometimes I feel like the player movement is too fast this year compared to other CoDs, combine that with the current matchmaking you get really sweaty lobbies all day. Speaking of matchmaking, we all know SBMM is a thing now and it's here to stay so I'm not even going to complain about it there is nothing we can do, just turn it down a bit if it's possible because I feel like they prioritize skill over connection and I get some really laggy lobbies, also, I get into a lot of matches that are already underway and I'm always on the losing team, please fix that. But you see SBMM messes up the whole game, it is because of SBMM that we have this awful scorestreak system with people changing the outcome of a match at the last minute because they finally got a chopper gunner otherwise, no one would get any killstreaks without camping hard and we would have another MW on our hands for one more year, and because SBMM is not going to change, this scorestreak system won't change either. Furthermore, I'm not going to talk about every single gun and how they should balance it, that will come with patches along the way but I know one thing they need to nerf right now, and that's snipers! There are too many good players that with the way that the snipers are right now, they can be the cause of some very unfair and frustrating kills. Moreover, the spawns in this game are crazy right now, you literally can't chill for a sec, as soon as you spawn it may seem like it's your team's spawn but for some reason, enemies will easily spawn like it's their's, and that's for all maps especially for Satelite, which is actually my favourite map but they really need to fix the spawns. Speaking of maps I have to say that for years we haven't seen a CoD with maps like the "good old days" unless it's a remaster but we all know they can mess those too (I'm talking to you MW!). Good maps can make a very mediocre game to a very fun and cool game so I'm hoping they have some good maps in-store waiting for us with some obvious remasters from the Black Ops Universe, I hate maps like Miami, they look good but they suck it's too big and too campy it reminds me like every MW map.
Edit: I forgot to mention the enemies' visibility is a problem as well, especially in maps like cartel, I can't see.
Above all, I really enjoy this game even with all its problems I can definitely tell it's not going to be like MW, let's be honest MW was saved because of warzone the actual multiplayer SUCKS HARD!
P.S. Control is so boooring I don't know why it exists xD.

2020.10.18 23:47 DarthPlagueisTragedy Overall beta feedback.

Full beta feedback
Played both weekends of the beta have waited till nearly the end for my round up.
Enjoyed it. It’s a return to proper cod.
I am deliberately not mentioning matchmaking or netcode they will either get fixed or not.
Cons:
Visibility of players is absolutely terrible. The number 1 worst thing of the entire beta.
New score streak system is awful. There is no way they can balance low end to hi end streaks.
ADS and sprint out times need a buff for AR and LMG across the board.
Snipers need flinch and more sway.
Weapon balance (with attachments) is ok apart from MP5, there are no downsides to that weapon.
Base movement speed could be faster.
Sliding needs to be slowed down slightly.
Miami is a terrible map for 6v6 and needs chopping up severely.
Field upgrades are underwhelming, some take too long.
Sam turrets need a huge buff to be useful. Sigma launcher outplays them in every way.
Molotov needs a buff to radius and damage.
Tracker perk needs a buff somehow.
Perk 2 is deeply underwhelming apart from scavenger.
Grenade throw time is way too long.
Pros:
Gunsmith is much better and the details tab is great. Having attachments with only pros is good.
Proper minimap is great.
Ninja is back and seems good.
Ghost is excellent as it is.
I like the flexibility of wildcards.
I like that you feel like you can move around the maps again.

2020.10.17 01:41 johnny115215 My Thoughts and Issues with CW

So I have a couple questions for the rest of you non paste eating cod players (The players who realize that MW 2019 is actually a really bad cod). First I have been playing cod since cod 4 on the pc when I was about 10 or 11 years old and exclusively on pc even today. The only cod I have not played on pc was Infinite Warfare. Also when trying to play betas and alphas and such I like to look for a lot of gameplay inconsistencies and issues since I am currently in College to learn Game Development.
  1. (Small Camping Rant) This may be very person to person basis, but is it just me or the amount of MW 2019 players playing the beta making the game damn near unplayable. I get the maps cater to Og 3 lane maps with some having more angles the others, but has anybody else had like at least 2 MW 2019 corner camping timmy no thumbs in the matches per match? Cause I really am getting a lot of those players in my lobbies and I am a very run and gun centric player. Like if I don't have gung ho on its an experimental class. And even though the maps don't influence that sort of gameplay, those people will always be around, but come on every damn match....
  2. This one will be very controversial, Matchmaking... So for those who don't know a patent was made for a new matchmaking system that influenced match organization based off of skill level and microtransactions as well as other variables. [Link to the patent (https://patents.google.com/patent/US20160005270A1/en)] This was patent was accepted 2 years before MW2019 and a couple months before Cod WWII came out. And the patent is extended to 2025. I don't want to say that the patented mm system was in WWII because I don't remember feeling like the game was all that sweaty. I could be wrong. But MW 2019 is a very sweaty game.. And has a lot of microtransactions. Literally once or twice a week there are new store items. Now this matchmaking patent is a sbmm system that " drives microtransactions in multiplayer video games. The system may include a microtransaction arrange matches to influence game-related purchases. For instance, the system may match a more expert/marquee player with a junior player to encourage the junior player to make game-related purchases of items possessed/used by the marquee player. A junior player may wish to emulate the marquee player by obtaining weapons or other items used by the marquee player." Due to the lack of weapon balance in MW 2019 and that almost every season dlc gun tends to be a better carbon copy of a base game weapon that tends to be very strong on release. Within a day or less of a new weapon(s) coming out in MW 2019 there are new store packs for them and then once people buy the packs within a week or 2 they nerf the gun to make the store pack for said new weapons less appealing. Kind of like putting a bet on a new weapon and cashing out. Also on release of mw2019 we had a mm system that disconnected us from every match and found us a new one. If this patent is the mm system in MW 2019 (I am not saying it is, this is a what if situation) then MW 2019 has a system meant for matchmaking you with your skill and other players skill and microtransactions purchased to convince you to buy the store packs that higher skilled players have. Now in the Cold War beta we have a mm system that disconnects every match to find us a new one. If this is the same system right now in the Cold War beta we have a microtransaction and skill based matchmaking system that has no microtransactions to pull and interpret data from, so we are left with a raw skill based matchmaking system. Just want to hear what other people think of this patent and if they think this could be the system we have for matches currently in the 2 most recent installments of the game. I think this is scummier than the idea of fair supply drops because if supply drops remain all cosmetic and don't lock guns or any game content behind them then no fan would have an issue. Cause then that is like gambling for a gun back in bo3. But If this mm system is in MW 2019 then we almost had a cod with supply drops and this skill based microtransaction matchmaking system. Imagine how much worse it could have been for MW 2019 if there were still supply drops in it and if they weren't fair. Again this is all based off of the what if that patent is the current matchmaking system for MW 2019.
  3. The way sliding works in the game. I'm not sure about anybody else, but it seems to me you gain too much velocity when sprinting and immediately sliding for a semi effective bunny hop that makes raw gameplay feel less fluid. Like I'll walk into a room and someone who I am already aiming at slides to the other side of the room immediately after sprinting and they will gain so much speed that they will be behind me when then firefight started from about 20 or 30 in game meters in front of me. And when you combine this with certain slopes in the map the velocity only gets higher. And it really makes the sliding feel super unnatural. MW2019 sliding wasn't too bad and feels fairly fluid. And I do believe that constantly starting to sprint then slide to get the max movement speed like in mw2019 is kind of stupid. Max speed should be the start of a sprint and no other time of movement. I get that they are 2 different developing studios, but being united under a single publisher Activision can just literally request the source code for a better sliding system from a older game to give newer games more movement fluidity. I'm pretty sure they can do that since they literally own these developing studios. Just my two cents on the sliding in this game what do yall think?
  4. The new flinch system. So when treyarch said they got rid of almost all flinch in the game I was worried. But seeing their new flinch in action is kind of nice. But there needs to be some small adjustments. So this new flinch is more of a movement setback over your weapon being carried up with the viewmodel due to being hit and recoil like previous flinches. I do like this idea, but I am not sure if it's netcode or other issues, but sometimes I feel like a bullet would send my player back further than it should have I have a clip of me standing sniping right behind an MG turret on Armada and after taking 4 bullets I was quite a bit farther away from the MG turret after dying than expected. And I feel like if your back is to a wall you will have the upperhand due to not being able to move backwards and being more stable. I like this, but I feel that it needs some more fine tuning. Like maybe different calibers have different amount of player setback that could be a good fix and just make it a constant rather than a variable calculated over movement as well.
  5. Weapon Balance is very off. It suffers from the same issue MW 2019 has the SMG category of weapons act like rifles both a short and long range. If they are really trying to push the longer ttk then maybe don't make the uzi and the mp5 a 3 hit to the chest which is a 9mm or .45 acp compared to a ak at 7.62 4 plus hit to the chest. Just seems like terrible game balance from an object perspective. I get that SMG's need to have the high rate of fire, but make center mass shots take more and obviously all lethal headshots should do a lot more damage. Kind of like Realism Mode in MW 2019. That was an amazing ttk balance in my opinion.
  6. TTK I don't mind a longer TTK, but with some guns or the current netcode in the beta I feel like I am getting melted sometimes and the other player takes little to no damage.
  7. Bullet Penetration. I have a clip playing on miami where I hit a person's lower chest close to the pelvis region through the wooded bar fence that surrounds the bar on the beach connected to the pool of the hotel. I hit a person 3 times there with an ak and did about 20 damage. A 7.62 going though wood is like a bullet flying through butter. (video for reference https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVpAuWcNsVk) So this needs a little work.
Overall I really do like the direction that Cold War is taking from a gameplay perspective, but as every game is never perfect because perfection doesn't exist. This game has a solid foundation and can be a lot better once they make some adjustments. Also cheers to Beenox to developing a very stable PC port of a cod for Cold War as MW 2019 had a plethora of fatal errors on PC. I do know that they also did develop the pc port of BO3 and MW 2019. But so far stability is solid on the Cold War Beta. I even CSGO - ified to get the max frames out of my gpu with as little usage as possible and I was able to achieve a constant 100 plus frames using only 3.4 GB of Vram with most settings medium to low on a i7-6700k and a evga gtx 1070 8gb super clocked. Which on MW2019 would create fatal errors for me. What do you fine people of reddit think about the points I brought up? Please keep it civil. I want to talk about all game mechanics and issues objectively as a I mentioned that I am in College to learn game development and want to hear all constructive sides to an argument.

2020.10.16 02:29 taquitos4ever A honest and objective feedback

So yeah I’m not gonna start with “i’M a wEaThErED CoD VeteRaN” as it makes no sense I mean you don’t start a book review in “i’Ve bEEn ReAdiNg bOOkS fOr 15 yeArS” I’m just a guy that plays cod daily. And since some of you are acting like two clans of tantrum throwing, petty 10 year olds who think the only way to praise one studio is to bag another( goes for both fanbases), I decided to give my personal feedback. I don’t really have a strong studio preference. Okay let’s go.
Pros:
⁃ Best thing for me is the FOV slider on console. Huge difference.
⁃ Combat is nicely spread through the map and you don’t actually need to run a semi marathon to get to it after you respawn.
⁃ Spawn logic worked quite well for me.
⁃ Due to simpler and smaller map design, the game feels more packed with action.
⁃ Since I rarely snipe, I like that there’s no sniper corridors where in order to cross I have to recite 5 hail marys in order to make it across with me head on my shoulders.
⁃ Stuns wear off faster! (I don’t like the hand gesture when stunned though)
⁃ The maps are designed quite solid and are also beautiful.
⁃ No special abilities for operators. Thank god.
⁃ Map voting
⁃ Ability to remove healthbars
⁃ Nice perks nice wildcards.
⁃ No stopping power (love hate relationship with it in Warzone)
Cons:
⁃ I have to say the whole gunplay is a big downer for me. All guns sound the same, generic and completely unrealistic. Little to no recoil, muzzle flash is weird, ads animations are copy-pasted from older cods and they don’t look good for me. Toy-ish. Huge disappointment and downgrade
⁃ Movement is better in alpha but I still don’t like it. Too floaty. The slide is broken. I think I’ll miss tac sprint too. That thing zooms.
⁃ Audio design feels like it’s made from 1-3 layers. Guns, footsteps, all of it. Absolutely loved the audio design in MW and I hoped it’ll be the new standard.
⁃ Directional audio is not that good.
⁃ You can chuck grenades and stuns halfway to China. Too far, at least stuns.
⁃ Bad head glitches on some maps( I’m looking at you satellite)
⁃ I’ll miss parkour from mw, that thing adds another dimension to combat imo. Mantling feels slow compared to mw.
⁃ I think maps need some more places to hide behind when fighting, not headies but like an object where you lie down behind and reload, heal. Makes longer gunfights with multiples quite difficult.
⁃ Visibility is quite bad, especially on the Fireteam maps.
⁃ Fireteam mode needs means to get ammo! Kill 3 people and then kill meself because i need ammo. Also ttk too long imo, no need for 3 armour plates. Uranium looks like it was stolen from minecraft. The mode definitely feels like an inbred son of Warzone and Ground war. Weird. Also fun but meh
⁃ Same netcode issues as mw. Getting killed when already behind cover etc..
⁃ Servers are hot trash but it’s beta so that’s standard.
⁃ Snipers have insane ADS. Unbalanced imo.
⁃ No opposing sides. Shared operators. That’s just lazy from the devs, come on.
Neutral:
⁃ SBMM-before you crucify me I need to say that I absolutely fucking hate it but I placed it under neutral because it feels same as in MW. Matchmaking is reportedly Activisions duty anyways.
⁃ The streaks are just weird man wtf either I’m getting assfucked in Miami and for some reason I get an artillery strike or I absolutely shit on fellow players and I also get an artillery strike. Same weak mindset that brought us SBMM imo.
⁃ The gunsmith. Whoa it’s nice and accurate with stats but absolute hot garbage from content perspective. Some attachments just seem like ballast. A barrel that deals more damage to vehicles? Okay? Also the phrasing is just bad imo. Preferred the MW one but this is still better than pick 10.
⁃ Neutral about the game, I prefer MW in most aspects but this game wins in some big ones. Would I buy it if I wouldn’t need it for levelling guns for warzone? Probably not. Did I buy it? Lol yeah I got the ultimate edition, I’m a sucker for cod what can I say.
Lastly, I have to say that I hope that they improve the improbable things and keep listening to us like they did between alpha and beta. I hope that we all will have great time on the game. Also a question, will the movement and gunplay stay the same in warzone? I sure hope so.
Tldr: git gud
P.S. if there’s a lil Timmy somewhere trying to comment a comment like “modern campfare hhhh finally a skilled cod” or “black ops is for braindead rushers” please don’t. My opinion. It is equal to yours. Except mine tries to be constructive whereas yours is just sad. Also I’m sorry for the formatting. Cod 2021 imma make a PowerPoint. Cheers

2020.10.15 21:29 YaBoiGibblez After 3 hours of the beta, I have little hope for this game.

Yeah yeah yeah, incoming “oh it’s a beta”. If we’ve learned anything from the previous Call of Duty titles not much will change. SBMM is still rampant, lobbies still disband, and the netcode is still absolute garbage. I’ll get downvoted into oblivion by the Treyarch fanboys but here it goes.
Pros: - The attachments. They seem pretty cool. I also like the in depth description.
-The maps aren’t too bad, aside from Miami and Cartel
-The Music is dope as hell
-The settings are very nice, and I really like that console players now can increase their FOV
-The TTK, I think it’s very nice.
-The wildcard system. I really like this.
-Field upgrades. I think all of them are pretty unique and interesting. None are overpowered or anything.
-Health bars. No idea why, I just like them. Pretty cool seeing your enemies health. Also helps with visibility
Cons: -Guns sounds are pretty bad
-Every time I shoot a gun I feel like I’m punching myself in the head
-Obligatory skill based matchmaking, lobbies disbanding, bad netcode, blah blah blah. -Sliding. Just everything about it.
-Aim assist on console. I play on PC with keyboard on mouse, but when I played in the Alpha used my PS4. The aim assist then was very strong but very inconsistent. It feels the same way now when I play against console players. I personally don’t have a problem with aim assist but getting tracked through walls and the bushes on Cartel are a bit much.
-The game runs very weird. Everytime I get into a firefight my FPS drops significantly.
-The new scorestreak system. It’s very bad.
-Footsteps. They’re loud as hell.
-Progression in this game feels like it takes forever. I’ve played for the hours using the XM4 and occasionally the MP5. I haven’t unlocked any useful attachments for either of them so far.
-Inconsistency. Everything is inconsistent. The recoil, the damage, and like I said, the aim assist.
-Operators. One thing I gotta hand to MW2019 is that operators are team based. As in they are locked to the Coalition or the Allegiance.
-Visibility. I can’t gripe about this too much. But the visibility is not really any better than MW2019.
I really, REALLY want to enjoy this game. I like Call of Duty a lot but so far this game feels like a free to play shooter, kind of like Warface. It almost feels like they took Black Ops 4, got rid of operators, put a little MW2019 twist in it, and threw it all into a game. Regardless, I don’t think I’ll cancel my pre-order just yet.
Edit: I really am NOT trying to compare MW2019 to this game. They are entirely different games by entirely different developers. I just figured I’d bring up the problems that both of them share.

2020.10.12 23:51 xXHenlolXx Cold War Beta Review

Here is my review and thoughts on Cold War after playing the alpha and the first week of the beta.

• Core Gameplay:

Good:
  1. Time-to-kill: Having loved bo4 gameplay, I can say that Cold War ttk is in the right spot. Rewarding gun and movement control during gunfights.
  2. Flinch: Having no flinch is awesome, as it takes away the randomness of a gunfight. (I am still kind uncertain about this one, as I have seen some posts talking about the beta having a little bit of flinch).
  3. Headshot damage: Cod is known for having almost no headshot multiplier. But with 0 flinch, high headshot damage means that the player aiming for the head is rewarded, and this is nice.
Average:
  1. Vehicles (locomotion): Even though I am not a big fan of them, I get why they are needed in big maps.
Bad:
  1. Skill Based Matchmaking: I have always been a little skeptical about sbmm, as it is that boogeyman to blame if you play bad in a match, although it is noticeable in MW 2019. But after playing the beta, I feel that it is even stronger than in MW, and it just takes away the will to play. As there is going to be a ranked playlist, I think having in-lobby balance between teams would be enough.
  2. Disbanding Lobbies: Even though it helps to increase variety in game modes, it just ain’t gratifying. It makes sbmm work in every match and you just can’t stay in a lobbie that you are having fun, good connection, etc. Probably a mixed system, which allows you to search for a lot of modes, but have you stay in the lobby would be better.
  3. Armed Vehicles: They are too strong and have no place in cod.

• Technical Stuff:

Good:
  1. Accessibility: The amount of options, from fov to hud elements is amazing.
  2. Developers Transparency: It is very nice to see developers active on social media, interacting with players.
Average:
  1. Audio: It is possible to easily discern enemy footsteps, and keeping gun sounds more arcade than MW is better in my opinion. I just think that alpha sound was better, probably because of the bass they added to weapons.
  2. Graphics: It’s not MW, but also far from ugly. The only thing that annoys me is the blurriness (playing in the base ps4).
Bad:
  1. Connection: First I should say that I from Brazil, playing on a wired ps4 with fiber internet. The connection is just awful. Very bad hit detection, high ping (in 6x6, every match had the lag warning), high lag compensation (can't count how many times I died after getting cover) and low hz servers. I can’t remember this problem in the alpha, but it was frustrating in the beta. Hope I don’t have to deal with super bullets next week.
  2. Perfomance: I played mostly using 90 fov, and the game do not feel smooth. It seems to have frame-drops in gunfights or every time I die.
  3. Lobby Not Joinable: I got this error many times when searching for a game.

• Movement:

Good:
  1. Fast: Being a Treyarch game, it is fast as I expected. Happy that I don’t need to hurt my finger with tactical sprint.
  2. Slide: Even though Treyarch patched the tricks to move even faster and nerfed it to not be used from an almost standing position, it is still strong. I like it this way, as it allows more movement during gunfights.
  3. Jumpshot: Not a bunny hop show, but it still is a good way to surprise the opponent. I think it is well balanced.
Average:
  1. Dropshot: Now an attachment is needed to keep aiming while doing a dropshot, and it as a fair trade-off. But maybe it was nerfed a lot, since you expose your head while doing it, and the headshot multiplier is high in this game.
  2. Climbing: Just a detail, but it is weird that your character can climb some windows and walls even higher than him. Maybe this should be added in Warzone hahaha
Bad:
  1. I don’t know exactly what the problem is, but the movement feels a little floaty and choppy.

• Guns and Create-a-class:

Good:
  1. Customization: The improved gunsmith is wonderful. Allowing a lot of customization without drawbacks.
  2. Detailed Statistics: After a whole year of hidden stats in MW, it is amazing to have detailed stats of every gun and attachment. Hope they improve this even further and allow us to compare guns and variants.
  3. No Mounting: This mechanic do not have a place in mp and encourage camping. I am happy to see that it ain’t in Cold War.
  4. Balance: It is nice to see that even in the beta Treyarch is already adjusting and patching the guns. They seem to be in the right spot, even the snipers, as I love to quick-scope.
Average:
  1. Variety: As in the beta we do not have all the guns unlocked, I can’t talk too much about that. But I do not want to talk about numbers. Guns in the beta feel soulless. Thinking about bo2, every gun is unique, but here everything is so unremarkable.
  2. Grenade Spam: I think that something like a pick-10 system would be better, so you can trade grenades for other things, to not have the tatical and lethal spam. But this might also be because there are just 2 wildcards available, one allowing the player to double the amount of grenades.
Bad:
  1. Compared to MW 2019, guns fell really bad. I don’t want to talk too much about that topic, as it has already been debated a lot by the community. But man, shotguns feel like toys.
  2. Progression: If the purpose of a beta is to test things, guns shouldn’t level-up slowly. I think it shouldn't be this way even in the final build of the game.

• Maps:

Good:
  1. Visual: Very colorful, having a Treyarch color palette and presentation, each one being very distinctive from the other.
  2. Doors: There are no doors!
Average:
  1. Map design: They are much better than MW maps, not having many power positions and verticality, but the flow of some maps is weird and chaotic. Ofc it depends on the mode, but we do not have a new classic map in the beta, mostly being mediocre in this department.
Bad:
  1. Visibility: Enemies can hide in the shadows (Miami is a good example), conceal in the snow with uniforms matching the map colors or hide in grass (yes, I am talking about Cartel).
  2. Re-using maps: For now it is just Cartel, but I do not think it is a good idea to have maps made for more than 1 mode. I know that is a good way to have a higher number of maps, but what we need are good maps, not a lot of them; just look at MW and how people just want to play Shipment and Shoot House. Aniyah Palace is a good example of this, as it doens’t matter if you cut the map for other modes, it will never be the same as map made for 6x6.

• Scorestreaks:

Good:
Average:
  1. Strength: Streaks are supposed to be a fundamental part of Call of Duty. But since bo2, developers seem to have nerfed them. Looking at the alpha and beta, they are not shit in Cold War, but are destroyed so easily that can’t even kill anyone, with chopper gunner being the only exception.
  2. Delay: It is nice that you can rotate them in the same life again, but I am still unsure about delay times.
Bad:
  1. Score System: The new score system is a clusterfuck. Having lots of score multipliers is confusing and you never know exactly how much score you need for the next streak. And the fact that they don’t reset on death is even worse, as it takes away the fun and excitement to fight for them and know that you can die at any moment.
Overall, I liked the alpha and disliked the beta, mainly because connection. I think the game has a lot of potential, but there are some things holding it back. I know that development has been quite troublesome, having to intervene in Sledgehammer’s development, merge with IW’s engine, just 2 years for development, optimize it for a lot of consoles (it is a cross-generation game) and covid. I am just trying to give some constructive feedback and wish the best for developers 😊

2020.10.10 08:32 xtbandit My Beta feedback...do you like VIP?

Overall I am having fun playing 6v6 maps, Moscow and Cartel offer some fast pace enjoyment, haven't decided whether I like Miami, and Satellite is a good map but too big for 6v6; i don't like the new VIP mode, the games I played were over in less than a minute which doesn't even give you time to get in the mood; I was hyped about it and now I am very disappointed. The footsteps are kind of loud (less on Satellite) and it's a weird noise like people running with chained feet; when running the camera wobbles too much and makes me dizzy, even with motion blur turned off. The matchmaking is very bad, SBMM at its best. I play with randoms and I would like to be able to stay in the same lobby but hey no...today I played a game and my K/D was 1.8, then I was moved to another lobby and the KD went down to .7, then I moved to another lobby and KD went up to 1.2; the bad thing was then in the second game the other team players had a KD higher than 2....don't really care about KD but being moved continuously to different lobbies is a big deal.... To be Continued

2020.10.03 04:33 MetaKirbSter A guide to some current and future lore-based BP missions

Hi, I'm actor Troy McClure u/MetaKirbSter. You may remember me from such posts as the "Welcome To" series, the ill-fated(but soon to be revived) "Daily Skin Discussion" threads, and Gladys, the Groovy Mule! my previous post about future BP missions!
While it's way too early to be making this, I figured it'd be easy to post this now then bump it later. In the future weeks, you'll be seeing missions such as "Win matches as pet owners", "Win matches as legends from Thera", "Win matches as legends brought to Valhalla by Brynn", and "Emote on Kor's platform", alongside current missions like "Win with home-field advantage".
"Win with home-field advantage"(Week 1): This is actually pretty simple if you own crossovers with suitable matchmaking maps**(Shovel Knight characters with Plains of Passage, Hellboy characters with Apocalypse, AT characters with the treehouse map, etc.)**, but if you don't have crossovers, here's a few legends and their respective maps(I'll edit this if anyone mentions more legends): Ember, Ragnir, POSSIBLY Dusk(Fangwild) and Val/Ada(Miami Dome), though there's definitely more possible combinations.
"Win as legends brought to Valhalla by Brynn"(Week 5): This one's simple of you've read the lore, but Teros and/or Asuri will work for this challenge at the very least. (I'm not sure if Kaya[who has brynn mentioned near the end of her lore] or Brynn herself count, we'll just have to wait and see). EDIT 10/2: Fait and Petra aswell. -- u/Starsavior506
***"***Emote on Kor's Platform"(Week 6): Left platform in Blackguard Keep(the one with the castle in the back and lots of grey/dark shades of colors.
"Win 2v2 matches as legends who knew each other before Asgard"(Week 7): Once again: Ragnir and Ember, Koji and Hattori, Jaeyun and Jiro, Wu Shang and Lin Fei, Ember and Dusk, Mako and Thatch(idk if this'll work but we'll see), Onyx and Volkov(?), Caspian and Volkov, Sentinel and Vector, just to name a few.
"Win matches as legends who have been to Fangwild"(Week 9): Ember, Ragnir, Dusk. These three should work, though if you're very cautious, stick to Ember.
"Win matches as pet owners"(Week 11): Azoth(Dander sidekick when?) and Fait to my knowledge though there miiiiiiiiight be more.
"Win matches as legends from Thera"(Week 12): Baron D's(probably not Baron's but the original owner doesn't ring a bell atm) lore site claims the two legends that work for this are Jhala and Sidra.
Aaaaand that's it. Too early? Probably. Just keep this link handy when hordes of people ask about who Brynn brought to Valhalla.

2020.09.20 12:42 Zestyapples New decade, same issues.

Haven't played CoD since Black Ops 3, MW3. Came into the Alpha to have fun and maybe get back into it. A lot is nice and neat, but Activision has left a bad taste in my mouth, so when looking at their products, I need to really consider, "will this be fun if invest in it?" Here's my feedback on the Alpha:
Perks - Ninja is broken (can be heard loudly down the hall in Miami hotel while walking.) Flak Jacket lets a person survive 2-3 shots from a TANK. Tracker is almost useless to include if majority of people will have the perk to counter it active because the other options in that bracket are bugged/pointless.
Quickscoping - has always been a thing, sure np . But how easy it is and how quickly you can take successive shots is imbalanced imo. I suck at QSing/Sniping, from MW(original) to BO3, and yet here I can actually do it! (until I'm paired with a TEAM of enemy QSers after 2 rounds)
Lag/Hitboxes - I see killcams where a sniper is aiming below my waist, swiping from left to right, and I get 1 shot . Or aiming outside my body and getting markers. Some matches, I can turn and be 3 steps behind a wall and still take hits. Lag, sure. But aren't we all in Quarantine and in 2020? Can't find 11 other people in my state/country with decent internet? Doubt it.
Shotguns - Remove them from the game? A pistol is more effective. I thought I was crazy until a friend confirmed, 2 chest-shots to kill unless you're within an inch (literally) of them.
ARs - What's the point? Sub machine guns are absolutely insane. Tac rifles offer better killing powespeed in most scenarios (reminds me of Akimbo FMGs with how imbalanced they were, or the old MP7.) It's been too many years for them not to have enough data to make guns balanced.
AK74u - Good range (can kill halfway across Miami) with amazing damage, recoil, etc etc. Other subs too. These feel like what ARs should be, and pistols feel like what subs should be.
Matchmaking - I'm used to seeing 1 awesome dude, 2-3 average dudes, and 2 shitty dudes when I'm playing CoD matches. Not, 2 matches with what feels like average humans, then 2 matches with bots/pros who exclusively QS and play tighter than actual special forces. Thought I was buggin' out until I read this sub. Never heard of SBMM (this iteration of it, mind you) until now.
Conclusion: Was actually excited at first until I discovered the issues and felt that "ugh, again?" feeling. If that's the alpha for a game series that's been successful for 10+ years, is data-driven, and made by devs who churn this out like clockwork, then it shows the level of care that went into the actual gameplay/fun of the game.
Praying Zombies will be interesting/fun. Definitely a "grab when it's on sale" game. There's lots of other games, and previous CoDs to play to scratch that multiplayer shooter itch.
Thanks for coming to my CODTalk.

2020.09.20 00:35 Ninjalox2 My thoughts on Cold War so far ( I like it )

The maps are REALLY good. They remind me of the (now) older Call of Duty's like MW2 and the original Black Ops. The layouts are just perfect, they play like a dream come true. The problems I have with them lie in something I feel like has been an issue for a long time now, which is spawns. Within two to three seconds of spawning, there's about a 6/10 chance I'm gonna get thrown into a gunfight, I feel like MAYBE there should be a bit more reaction time than that.
The guns all function as desired with a few exceptions: LMG's don't do enough damage, it takes 6 to 7 shots to the chest to kill someone, whereas an assault rifle only takes 5. Snipers are incredibly broken, little to no sway, insanely fast ads speeds, and versatile with attachments. However, the devs have already said they are going to nerf snipers.
The perks that are in the game are pretty standard, however, Ninja is far too ineffective to be considered useful at any time. It's supposed to be the equivalent of silent step, but you still sound like an elephant in a cage fight with a gorilla.
The large scale 16v16 maps are really good, but it would be suicide not to bring a long-range weapon every time.
The graphics have only improved ever so slightly from MW19, but I suspect noticeable differences are more likely to be seen on next-gen and PC. The biggest take away on PS4 graphics is the fire and explosions, which look really good. Map lighting is very good, with the exception of Miami, which takes place on the dark side of the moon.
The new scorestreak system is interesting, you're gonna see more people getting their high-end streak now that it progresses through lives. The field upgrades are neat, but only a handful of them are viable outside of 6v6 style matches.
The artillery strike is either too easy to get or too powerful, one or the other needs to change. You can call in three strikes, and within 2 seconds those spots are blown to pieces, not to mention you get a UAV while you attempt to use it. As for the rest of the scorestreaks, they function perfectly.
I've seen a lot of people complaining about the skill-based matchmaking being too harsh. However, I have noticed nothing out of the ordinary. That's just my experience.
As for it being an alpha, it could easily be the full release, I am astonished by how few bugs there are, its incredible. Ultimately, I would have to give this alpha an 8/10, its exactly what I would want from Call of Duty, with only some minor problems.
So, those are my thoughts, I would love to hear other peoples opinions!

Fair warning: this is a lengthy post. But let's make a deal, read the whole thing if you plan on commenting! I'm going to attempt to lay this out in a manner that offers facts and then my personal opinions because I feel it is important to separate the two.
I've seen a lot of comments stating this game is a step down from Modern Warfare. While I'm not saying I agree or disagree with that, it's important to actually compare the two games if you're going to make a statement like that.
Each game is a part of the same franchise, but under a different series. So it is to be expected that they play differently. I do think it could be beneficial to look at the two side by side though.

Movement Systems

MW: As we all know, MW has sprint and tactical sprint. This was a first for the franchise and added an extra layer to gameplay, as you are left more vulnerable if you choose to tactical sprint since it increases your sprint out time. Sliding is in MW as well, and does not significantly speed up or slow down your character. You are also able to effectively dropshot without altering your ADS state without a specific attachment on your weapon.
CW: Cold War has no tactical sprint. This is a system that has been in every COD with the exception of MW. Sliding is in CW and seems to significantly speed up your character. At the moment there is no cooldown for slides, but this has been confirmed to be changing for the full build of the game. Attempting to dropshot without the attachment that allows it will prevent you from using ADS temporarily.
Both:
In MW you are able to tac sprint cancel, jump shot, drop shot, and bunny hop around corners, and that playstyle is very strong. In CW you are able to do almost all of that, but to a lesser extent (especially dropshotting)
Personal Opinion: I believe that the movement is more fluid in Modern Warfare. It feels more natural and less clunky. Yes, this is an Alpha for Cold War and Modern Warfare is a fully released game. However, I don't expect drastic enough changes to be made to movement before release. At the moment it truly does feel clunky and out of place.

Maps

MW: The majority of maps in MW are "chaotic" and asymmetrical. Most maps are relatively large and offer many windows, headglitching spots, and corners ("safe spaces" in the words of the developers).
CW: We currently have access to three core maps. Moscow seems to be a typical three lane map. Satellite also seems to follow the three lane formula but also has elements of asymmetry mixed in. Miami does not seem to follow any "rules" that you might expect from a Black Ops title.
Personal Opinion: Three maps might not be enough to base an opinion on. However, you would think that Treyarch would want to present their better maps in the alpha. Maybe they simply aren't done with many so there aren't a lot to choose from at the moment.
I was not a fan of most of the maps on MW and I am not a fan of the maps we currently have on CW. I have not played the larger game mode (24 player) so I can't speak about those, but it seems like they are trying to mix the "safe space" philosophy from MW with their typical Treyarch three lane map design and it feels cluttered. It feels like the maps don't know what they want to be.
There is a reason that Shoot House was one of the most well received maps in MW. It was simple, three lanes, and had a good flow to it. I would love to see how Firing Range plays on CW, and I'm sure we'll see the map remakes start to roll in within a couple of months from launch.

Flinch

MW: Has weapon flinch when getting shot.
CW: Does not have weapon flinch when getting shot.
Both: Both games have visual effects when getting shot, but your aim is not affected in CW.
Personal Opinion: A game without weapon flinch is good. In MW you can often be punished for shooting first (by flinching someone into a headshot). Treyarch made a good choice to remove it, especially since headshots can made a big difference in gunfights in this game. I'm glad they didn't make it a perk (like Toughness in BO2) because then it becomes a crutch perk that you feel like you have to use a slot on.

Mounting

MW: MW introduced weapon mounting behavior, allowing players to mount their weapons on walls or ledges to mitigate recoil and remain in cover.
CW: CW does not have mounting or any variation of mounting.
Personal Opinion: Mounting does not belong in call of duty. It is low-risk, high-reward and promotes camping.

Lethals and Tacticals

Personal Opinion: Obviously we don't have access to the full range of lethals and tacticals yet, but I love that the C4 is not OP in CW. MW's C4 is way too strong. Additionally, I've seen people talk about the throw time of equipment. Lethals take a long time to throw and tacticals are almost instant. I for one don't mind the system in its current state, but I understand that it can feel jarring for their to be such a stark difference in throw times. Maybe Treyarch could cut the grenade timer on half and then apply that throw time to tacticals as well. I personally don't think grenades should be an instant throw, since that promotes grenade spam.

Time To Kill (TTK)

MW: Has a faster overall average TTK than CW
CW: Has a slower overall average TTK than MW
Personal Opinion: A slower TTK offers more room for more intense and skill based individual gunfights, while a faster TTK offers an environment that allows for more frequent double, triple, etc. kills. You have more of an opportunity win a 1v3 in a game with a faster TTK. I personally enjoy both, and appreciate the TTK values present in MW and the CW alpha, each for a different reason.

Skill Based Matchmaking (SBMM)

MW: Strict SBMM as proven by multiple tests demonstrated by reputable YouTubers, with no rank system or separate competitive playlist.
CW: Consensus among the community is that SBMM is present in the Alpha
Personal Opinion: I agree that the CW alpha seems to have stricter than necessary SBMM. I also think that hidden and strict SBMM is terrible for a game. It's not because I "always want to pub stomp", it's not because I'm "afraid of playing against people of my skill", it is because it being forced to play against only people as good as me all the time is boring and quickly becomes unfun. Variety is key.

Map Voting and Pre-Game Lobbies

MW: Has no map voting and lobbies are disbanded after each game.
CW: Has map voting and lobbies are not disbanded after each game.
Personal Opinion: CW does it right. The lack of map voting is one of the things that makes MW so frustrating to try to play. The players should be choosing the map, not an algorithm. Maintaining the lobby after each match also allows for fun rivalries and even friendships to form.

Graphics, Weapon Sounds, and Animations

straight to the personal opinions on this one: We all know this is an alpha. You don't have to say it every time someone mentions the gun sounds or animations. At the moment I don't think CW even comes close to the level of details present in MW.
I see a lot of people say "I'll take better gameplay over better graphics any day" and I agree with that. I also agree with the people saying we shouldn't have to choose. This is a AAA title.
In regards to the aesthetic of the game, I think that's a matter of preference. The Black Ops series is known to have a brighter colors, more contrast, and an overall more cartooney look. The Modern Warfare series is typically the opposite - lots of grays, muted colors, and a more gritty look. To me it doesn't matter as long as I can see where enemies are.
Additionally, it does concern me that there are frame drops present in the alpha. I know this is going to be a cross-gen release but I feel like with the the level of graphics we are seeing now there shouldn't be issues. Perhaps the game will behave better on next-gen but even if that's the case that creates problems
Overall, I think the game has potential. Personally I am a bit underwhelmed with the state of the game this close to launch.
Edit to add a section

MiniMap / Radar

MW: red dots do not show on the mini-map when shooting.
CW: red dots show on the mini-map when shooting without a suppressor.
Personal Opinion: CW does it right. No dots on the map promote camping.
Let's have a civilized discussion and offer constructive criticism yeah?

2020.09.19 20:10 Castellano2009 My "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" Feedback

I've been playing a lot of this Alpha and I think I'm in a good position to give my feedback to the devs since that's the point of releasing an alpha to the public :)
Of course, this is my humble opinion, you can agree or disagree with it but, probably, we are all going to buy and play this game at launch so it would be awesome to be polite and give quality feedback about the game.
The Good
The Bad
The Ugly
And that's all I had to say! If you came this far thank you for reading and feel free to tell me your opinion about the alpha.
Have a nice day!
